The Business Association for Latin America (LAV)

The Business Association for Latin America (Lateinamerika Verein, LAV), has as as main goal to promote the economic and social relationships between Germany, the European Union and Latin America. The LAV was founded in 1916 by merchants from Hamburg. Today it is an intersectoral professional association active on a nationwide basis. Members of the association are mainly industrial and foreign trade companies from different fields of business e.g. transportation, finances and law.
With its services, the LAV helps companies to establish or expand their business contacts in Latin America. Members of the association are private companies from Germany, other European countries as well as Latin American companies and private persons. The management board is composed of managers and board members of the associated companies.
The LAV provides individual support and consulting to its members on any question related to foreign trade issues, for example regarding the risk evaluation of a country or the local business environment. The association supports its members in the search for trade, cooperation and investment opportunities, provides information and offers contacts to private partners, institutions and law firms.
The LAV organizes meetings, conferences and business trips to Latin America in order to give its members the possibility to establish new contacts and to facilitate an intensive exchange of information and experience between entrepreneurs and politicians.
