Germany has become a service society. The service sector embraces a wide range of business activities that deal with intangible goods. Especially knowledge-driven services have a strong impact on the German economy as they contribute around 30 percent to the German gross value added.
Today, the tertiary sector accounts for more than seventy percent of GDP and more than two thirds of the labor market, making the industry a key pillar of the German economy.
